Aaliyah’s Undying Fame
The New York Daily News reports it was five years ago today that fans were rocked by the tragic death of Aaliyah, but the Brooklyn-born songstress is far from forgotten. “Her passing was probably the hardest out of all the people we lost in the hip-hop world,” said Mister Cee, a deejay at Hot 97 (WQHT-FM), who is hosting an hour-long tribute to the angelic-faced singer during his “Throwback at Noon” show today. The Passing Of Aaliyah
Thursday (August 25) marked the fourth year of Aaliyah’s passing. Throughout this elongated period of empty space you can’t help but to think what could have been. She was a rising star not yet even close to the heights of heaven she would have touched. While her period on earth was short lived, she never left her fans wanting or unfilled. She continually and completely left us satisfied, moved and gratified with her music, movies and herself. Aaliyah didn’t leave behind a mouth full of questions and a heart full of trouble. She left behind sincerity and meaningfulness to life, love and music. Her fans remember her for everything she was and everything she wanted and was going to be. The loss of Aaliyah to her fans has not been an easy transition to accept, but the pain gets easier to deal with; time seems to move on a little quicker and resume in place of what was lost. We might have lost an angel on earth but we didn’t lose her memory or legacy. She is still remembered and will be until the end of time. Rest in eternal peace Aaliyah.

R&B 2005- The Year Of The Ho?
Think back 10 years ago, Brandy, Aaliyah and Monica were the three young R&B/pop crossover teens. Mary J. Blige was pouring out the contents of her life, Faith Evans was doing her thing. All was… cool, as we said back then. Back then, we could hear the voices in R&B before seeing the naked asses of the singers. And the music, their music was so good. What the hell happened?

No One Ever Proclaimed Aaliyah Royalty
Contributed Anonymously:
Aaliyah was an amazing performer, dancer, singer and actress; that is why she had so many fans. She was never a mold of Janet Jackson, she was completely different from her. She was able to wear baggy pants and sing about love and not have to act like a complete ho to do it. She never let fame get to her and finished high school before committing to her career. She gave inspiration to her fans and to me she was a great role model. Aaliyah genuinely cared about her fans; loved them as if she was related to them. People mourn her death because of the kind of person she was. Look how rare it is to actually find someone who young females can look up to and be proud to be a fan. I don’t think there will ever be anyone as generous and kind as Aaliyah was; she was one in a million.
Aaliyah Is Not And Was Not Princess Of Hip Hop

I feel that some of you people that are up here are just giving Aaliyah props because she is dead. I loved Aaliyah too but I’m not going to hype her talent, the girl could NOT sing and as far as dancing she was very limited. In fact she didn’t even dance much in her videos, and you can’t really compliment her voice because she didn’t have that many live performances. Not to mention she couldn’t take any credit for her music, she didn’t write produce or anything on her songs. You people talk about Ciara being unoriginal, then what was Aaliyah. She was a carbon copy of Janet Jackson. Ciara is more original than any female artist out right now. She can do more than the regular booty popping, girl can actually pop and lock, and everything. She’s writing her own music and singing about real stuff people can relate to.
Stevie Wonder’s A Major Fan Of Destiny’s Child
RollingStone.com caught up with Stevie Wonder for a Q&A and asked the singing legend what his favorite song of the moment is. “My favorite song right now is ‘Lose My Breath’ by Destiny’s Child,” he revealed. “I’m a major fan of Beyonce — she has a great voice. And I was a major fan of Aaliyah’s voice. My heart was so broke, I said, ‘You know what? In the next life she’s got to be my wife.’ I also think Babyface has written some great stuff, and I think John Mayer is a great writer. I like his honesty a lot, and I like India’s honesty a lot, too.”
