spoke with AL.com about touring with and collaborating on her new album’s first single, ‘So in Love’. “Working with Jill is great. We both give it our all. We have a great vibe on ‘So In Love’,” Hamilton said. “I, along with my producing partner, Kelvin Wooten, both thought of her when we created ‘So In Love’. Kelvin’s actually from Huntsville, Alabama – he’s my musical soulmate and can create anything. It turned out to be a great love song and is still number one after 20 weeks.”

Black Men Dating White Women Makes Jill Scott Wince

shared her thoughts about interracial dating in an editorial for Essence.com on Friday (March 26). The R&B singer writes:

My new friend is handsome, African-American, intelligent and seemingly wealthy. He is an athlete, loves his momma, and is happily married to a White woman. I admit when I saw his wedding ring, I privately hoped. But something in me just knew he didn’t marry a sister. Although my guess hit the mark, when my friend told me his wife was indeed Caucasian, I felt my spirit…wince. I didn’t immediately understand it. My face read happy for you. My body showed no reaction to my inner pinch, but the sting was there, quiet like a mosquito under a summer dress.

Was I jealous? Did the reality of his relationship somehow diminish his soul’s credibility? The answer is not simple.

along with fiancé Jon Roberts welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby boy, Jett Hamilton Roberts into the world at 4:20pm on April 20, 2009. Jett was 7lbs 8oz. Both the Grammy Award winning singer/actress and son are doing well.

Jill Scott Is Pregnant, Due In April

revealed to reporters at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles on Friday that she’s pregnant with her first child. “The first trimester I spent in Botswana,” said the star, who is due April 25th. “That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You’re sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days.” Scott, who is engaged to drummer Lil’ John Roberts, was promoting her new HBO series ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’.
