Maxwell visited ‘The Early Show’ to perform ‘Pretty Wings’, off his new album ‘BLACKsummers’ Night’, as well as ‘Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)’ from the R&B singer’s 1996 album ‘Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite’.

Angie Martinez of Hot 97 in New York City interviewed Maxwell the other day, talking with the R&B singer about how people were born to his music, what he’s been up to during his long time away, how the industry has changed since he’s been gone, feeling liberated and rejuvenated after cutting the hair, not having a girlfriend at the moment, and more. Maxwell stopped by Dj Skees New Music show on KIIS FM in Los Angeles, after an 8 year break from his last album release. Maxwell told Skee about his new trilogy of albums starting out with ‘Black’, what new music he listens to, and why he cut his hair. “To me there’s nothing cornier than using a style or a look as a crutch,” Maxwell said of the cropped locks. “It just seemed kind of weak to me.
