Ashanti Doesn’t Blame ‘Thug Rappers’ For Domestic Violence

The Washington Post reports was in the capitol last night to pick up an award from Lifetime Television for her efforts to stop domestic violence, one of the themes of her new album. But writer Richard Leiby
says she doesn’t fault “thuggish rappers” for making matters worse. “I think domestic violence is encouraged by your environment,” she said. As for the recently renamed Murder Inc., she says: “Obviously the title is a little misleading, but we just meant being successful — you know, ‘murder’ in the industry.”
