Def Jam Records rented out the Tiburon Caribbean Bistro last week for an album release party for Ashanti. Tiburon co-owner Michael Mihajlov tells C.J. of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the city was chosen as the site to celebrate Ashanti’s new album, ‘Chapter II,’ because headquarters for Best Buy, Musicland and Target are in the Twin Cities. “She came in for dinner last Thursday and went through all the new songs on her album,” Mihajlov said. “Just a sweetheart girl. Down to earth. Thankful for everything. She was thirsty, so she asked me for a glass of water. I got it and she was, ‘Thanks so much, you could have had somebody else do it’.” As for what the singer had to eat during her stay, Mihajlov says, “She is very skinny. She didn’t eat a whole lot. They had a choice between New York strip steak [marinated in chimichurri], barbecued snapper and rice-encrusted chicken. I’m not sure what she had. I think she just ate a little bit of her salad. She had to do her presentation. She really didn’t have time to eat.”
