Linda Laban of CDNow.com spoke with Ashanti about her exodus from Jive Records to Murder Inc. The R&B star told Laban, “They were a good company, but I wasn’t feeling the creative vibe from the people I was working with. Ever since then I’ve been doing my own thing.” As for the collaborations that helped launch her, don’t look for more of that on her own album… only Ja Rule appears. Ashanti explains, “I didn’t want to flood the album with a lot of people. I wanted to stand on my own feet and prove I didn’t need a lot of artists to help me along the way.”
