Ousted ‘American Idol’ finalist Ashthon Jones talked about the perception of her being a diva, if she was nervous about being a wildcard pick, and why she decided to sing a Diana Ross song, ‘When You Tell Me You Love’, during an interview with TV Guide. “It wasn’t about being a diva, when I get on stage I’m a different person,” Jones explained. “I think America might have twisted it a little bit… When the judges said [I was a diva], I took it as a compliment, because love to dress, I love to do my hair, I like to put makeup on and shoes and own the stage, but I was so said when America took the diva – because there’s a double meaning of diva. Diva can mean I’m cocky and I think I’m all that, and I know I ain’t all that.” The interview at YouTube has since been removed.
