Among those mentioned were Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Pink, Nelly Furtado, and Alicia Keys. Pink described the skepticism she encountered when she first broke into the scene at 16 years old saying, “When you’re a 16-year-old girl and you’re trying to tell the president of your label that you know better than he does, it doesn’t always work.
