Sean Kingston Is Thankful A Year After Jet Skiing Brush With Death

Sean Kingston checked in with his Twitter followers (@SeanKingston) earlier today (May 29), which is a year to the date the Jamaican-American singer was involved in a jet skiing accident in Miami Beach that nearly took his life. Kingston suffered a fractured wrist and broken jaw along with water in the lungs, before nearly a month passed and he was discharged from Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. The 22-year-old writes:

Intersections of street corners were flooded with people selling flowers and teddy bears who could barely speak english. lol #MM
Bouquets & stuffed animals were doubled in price every store used the holiday to brand a product and solicit business. #MM

Jennifer Hudson And Sister React To William Balfour Guilty Verdict

Jennifer Hudson and her sister Julia released a statement regarding the guilty verdict given to Julia’s estranged husband William Balfour for the murder of their brother Jason, mother Darnell Donerson, and nephew Julian King. Balfour, 31, faces a mandatory life prison sentence. The statement reads:

We have many people to thank but our first thank you is to God, always. We are so grateful to prosecutors James McKay, Jennifer Bagby and Veryl Gambino and State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and her team for their dedication and tireless work from the beginning. We have the best police department and they have been with us every step of the way. We thank all of the State’s witnesses who came forward on our behalf. We have felt the love and support from people all over the world and we’re very grateful. We want to extend a prayer from the Hudson family to the Balfour family. We have all suffered terrible loss in this tragedy. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them (2 Corinthian 4:3-4). It is our prayer that the Lord will forgive Mr. Balfour of these heinous acts and bring his heart into repentance someday.

Melanie Fiona: ‘The MF Life’ Release Delay Had Its Benefits

Melanie Fiona spoke with the Los Angeles Times about delays in producing ‘The MF Life’, the follow-up to her 2009 debut LP ‘The Bridge’, which included a label shakeup. “There were a lot of internal changes,” said the 28-year-old Canadian R&B singer, who was transferred from Motown to Universal Republic after a label restructure in 2011. “When you’re under the major label system, you can’t just put your music out, there are channels. It’s a little frustrating. Looking back, there was a time when I felt I needed to rush this album. But if we would have put it out last year I wouldn’t have had the features on this album.”
