“Whatever is going on in your life or whatever you’re going through, you’ve had a hard day or just broke up with somebody, whatever the case may be, I want you to be able to turn on that song, ‘Medicine’, or just my music in general,” Musiq explained. “Allow me to be someone who helps to ease whatever the stress or whatever the pain or whatever unpleasant thing that may be going on it your life. Can I still be myself whether I’m major or independent, I have to feel creative freedom and I have to be myself. What makes you special is that you are you. Don’t try to fit in a box. Don’t try to be like some other artist or somebody else. Just be yourself, and that what makes you special.”
