Why Didn’t Chris Brown Perform At The BET Awards?
Lots of buzz is going on after Chris Brown didn’t perform at Sunday night’s BET Awards in Los Angeles, while Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx performed several times at the event. A source tells GossipOnThis: “A lot of reports were saying that he was using this as a way to rebuild his image. So at the last minute, he was pulled… After 3 days of rehearsal, they pulled Chris Brown from the show.”
Meanwhile, someone who apparently was one of Chris Brown’s dancers claimed Jay-Z had a major hand in denying Chris from hitting the stage in apparent retaliation for assaulting his prized artist Rihanna. “bshaw721″ wrote on his Twitter last night:
Jay-Z is mad childish. Never keep a person from paying there respect.
So Jay-Z tells BET that if chris performs that he will not perform. Ummmm… Wait for it… WHO CARES!!!

Rhian Benson: Michael Jackson Is THE Benchmark For Artistic Excellence
Rhian Benson shared her thoughts on the death of Michael Jackson on her MySpace blog on Friday (June 26). Benson writes:
Just wanted to say I’m feeling the heaviness today, the weight of the reality that MJ is no longer a part of our musical present.
I’ve seen all the montages and heard all the testimonies attempting to describe his musical contributions but it’s all just noise to me. I have always felt MJ in every inspired work of music, dance and video I have encountered because he is and always will be THE benchmark for artistic excellence. He dedicated his life to pushing hidden boundaries, making history and laying new paths while we were busy getting down to his constant flow of jams.

Divine Brown: My Heart Sank Learning Of Michael Jackson’s Death
Divine Brown reacted to the death of Michael Jackson on her blog at MySpace on Friday (June 26). The Canadian R&B singer writes:
Wow! When I first started hearing rumors, I thought it was a hoax, some horrible joke… anything but the truth. But then, confirmations of his death came flooding in. I began getting text messages, reading people entries on twitter. My heart just sank. This man has been touching people with his voice and music since he was a mere child! He has influenced just about anyone you can think of in the music industry! Who hasn’t been touched in some way shape or form, from the beginning to the height of his career, by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson? Who? In a moment like this… all I can do is think of ways that I can become a better singer, musician, and all around entertainer. When I think of the legacy that an entity like him has left behind… it humbles me. I will never reach the kind of heights that this man had reached, but I can surely strive to achieve my personal best! I leave you now with only this in mind… R.I.P Michael, and may you continue through your memory to inspire all aspiring entertainers around the world. You were truly one in a million.
Ledisi: Michael Jackson Made Me Believe I Could Do Anything
Ledisi reacted to the death of Michael Jackson on her blog at MySpace on Saturday (June 27). The New Orleans R&B singer writes:
I remember wanting a Thriller jacket and my mom said, “I can’t afford to get you that jacket”. So I had a red raincoat and a black marker and cut that thing up and made me a Thriller Jacket. LOL! They laughed at me so bad at school. I still wore that sad looking jacket. lol! I love Michael Jackson. He made me believe I could do and be anything. That’s what being an artist is about. Inspiring others. He did that for so many and he sacrificed his entire Life for his Art. He studied everything old and new and he created a Legacy that will live on forever. You can hear it on the radio and see it on television. He gave us stardust. Pray for His Children and his family. They need our prayers.
