Headley’s Solo Debut Has Something For Everyone

Billy Johnson Jr. of Launch.com caught up with to ask the singer about her transition from Broadway to singing R&B on her debut solo effort ‘This Is Who I Am’. Headley explains, “I grew up on an island with soka, calypso, and reggae, and then I love jazz, I’ve sung Broadway, I’ve sung everything. I don’t like being boxed in, so we found these amazing songs, and I think the album does have this vibe for everyone. I think every person, regardless of age or culture, can find something on it, and I kept that in mind as well, ’cause I didn’t want the Broadway audience to buy it and go, ‘Ugh, what’s that?’ So it is versatile, and that’s what I wanted for it.”
