Jim Farber of the New York Daily News reviewed the debut solo effort of Destiny’s Child star Beyonce Knowles: ‘Dangerously in Love’. Farber writes, “Fans looking for zippy, Destiny-style hits will find them early on, in songs like ‘Crazy in Love,’ with its lush Latin horns and Jay-Z rap, and in ‘Hip Hop Star,’ with its funk-rock beat. The album also contains one of the best of the now-obligatory cuts featuring the ‘diwali’ hand-clap beats (‘Bad Boy’). But after the first five tracks, the album drifts into drab ballads that require more feeling from Beyoncé to bring them to life. Like her physique, the singer’s voice is agile, gorgeous and almost coldly perfect. It’s very flawlessness has become a fault, coming at the cost of character.” The entire review at nydailynews.com has since been removed.
