Alicia Keys spoke with Jacqui Swift of the Sun about how her singing wasn’t so well received when she was in school and just beginning her singing career. Keys said, “I remember one time I was at school. I was just starting to sing to people. People were a little bit mean because they wanted me to be a certain way and look a certain way and it made me question things. I remember coming home and lying under the covers and had a little cry. When I got up I went to the piano and that was the first time I wrote a song called Troubles on my album.”
