Lauryn Hill’s Charisma Brings Cheers At Jones Beach

Isaac Guzman of the New York Daily News reviewed the Smokin’ Grooves tour stop on Sunday at Jones Beach Theater. Guzman writes, “The politically charged songs on Hill’s recent ‘Unplugged’ album are hardly material that normally works outdoors. But at Jones Beach, the singer’s charisma brought the challenging, dense songs across so well that some of her most fiery raps (on topics like ‘history of iniquity’) elicited spontaneous cheers.” The story at has since been removed.
