Jancee Dunn of Rolling Stone magazine chatted with Macy Gray for their Women in Rock issue. Asked when she first knew that she wanted to be in music, Macy responded, “I was about twenty-two when I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I was in L.A., and I started hanging around a lot of bands and a lot of musicians who were cute, and I found myself at shows and different studios. It was the one environment I was really comfortable in. I felt like a queen in a studio, like I could do whatever I wanted.”
