MTV News caught up with Mandisa after she was eliminated from ‘American Idol’ on Wednesday night. They asked the singer if she would clarify what she meant by “lifestyle” during her introduction to ‘Praise You’ the previous week, which some interpreted as homophobic. “I just heard about that, and it broke my heart because I really do try to live my life according to the value system that you treat others the way you want to be treated,” she said. “I absolutely hate nobody.” She said her use of the word “lifestyle” was because she’s “given in to every food indulgence I have ever had, so that was just me saying that God is freeing me of [that particular lifestyle].” As for Beth Moore, who has said that gays need to reform their ways, being one of her heroes, Mandisa responded, “I was not aware, but I respect her so much. She has put into my life like no one else. I have the utmost respect for her and she’s been a valuable resource for me.” Read more.
