Stuart Derdeyn of The Vancouver Province chatted with Mary J. Blige who is in Vancouver tonight to perform. Blige talked about her previous drug problems and abusive relationships in a frank and honest chat. “You either choose the right path — the path of life — or you choose death,” she says. “I chose life, thank God I did.” Blige said of her decision to edit out the line “let’s get drunk” from ‘Family Affair’, “Now Mary J. Blige is all about planting the right seeds in children’s heads. They’re the future. Spreading wrong messages kills.”
