The New York Daily News has details of comments made by Mary J. Blige upon winning Vibe magazine’s Quincy Jones Achievement Award at the Supper Club on Wednesday. “It’s a hell of a ride sometimes,” she admits. “People look at you on television and don’t understand what you’re going through. … For 10 years, I’ve been somebody who other people wanted me to be.” Blige added, “The hell with you if you don’t like me. I’ve been staying away from alcohol, from drugs, I’ve been beating down the flesh. Now, finally, I’m who I want to be and I’m comfortable with myself.”
