Earlier Billboard Reports Of Alicia Keys #1 False

Billboard announced today that due to a miscalculation of not counting 52,000 of System of A Down’s Toxicity Limited Release album, Alicia Keys Songs in A Minor was actually the #2 selling album for the week.

Hits magazine David Benveniste told Launch.com, “We knew it should have been Number One from the start. At first glance I was concerned and quite frankly shocked at the lower number.”

The BBC talked to Craig David about his efforts to penetrate the U.S. market though admitted it will take a lot of work saying, “They don’t care, a guy who’s out of Brooklyn doesn’t care what Craig David is and how many I’ve sold, I’ve got to show him what I’m all about.”

BBC Talks to Lisa Lopes

BBC has an audio interview and trancript of Lisa Lopes interview with them where she talked about her new solo album Supernova. The TLC member addresses the change to rap from the groups R&B sound saying, “I think that if they have any reservations about who Left Eye is to them or who they think I should be or what they think I should be rapping about then it may take them a minute to get it.”

New Jawn’s Juice Out

A new Jawn’s Juice is out today and among the highlights is Usher’s appearance on Regis & Kelly where Kelly Ripa had to guess who a silhouette was who was Usher. Aaliyah Sales Tumble, Still Strong Though At #3

With 61.52% of the album sales in for the week, HitsDailyDouble.com is projecting Aaliyah’s self titled album to slip 2 positions to #3 on the album charts, as System of A Down looks poised to take the #1 spot, Alicia Keys at #2, and Mary J. Blige at #4.

Time.com’s Christopher John Farley Mixed On Alicia Keys

Time.com’s Christopher John Farley reviewed the MTV Video Music Awards and gave a strongly negative review of the show. While absolutely bashing *NSYNC and Britney Spears, he had mixed thoughts about Alicia Keys performance.

Farley said “Alicia Keys was holding it down for real talent at the ceremony” but added “the instrumental mix on her performance was somewhat overdone.” Read more.

The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report on the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of 9 people last month, including Aaliyah shows that the plane was “”substantially” overloaded and showed no signs of mechanical difficulty.
