Macy Gray interviewed ahead of ID release
MTV has a transcript of an interview the had with Macy Gray where she talks about new tracks on The ID album, the Training Day film, working with Frusciante, Rick Rubin, and more.
Gray says the album is called The ID because, “What it’s all about is the id: what you do before you think and before you edit your impulses.”
The interview transcript at MTV.com has since been removed.
Nivea wants to be
R&B artist Nivea is profiled in the October issue of Vibe and admits she wants to follow in the footsteps of her Jive counterpart Britney Spears.
Nivea broke out as an artist with her hook in Mystikal’s hit Danger where he chimes, “Been so long since the heat’s been gone.”

Reverand Al Sharpton blasts NY Post’s Dreher
The New York Daily News reports Reverand Al Sharpton is suggesting a boycott of the New York Post if the paper doesn’t apologize for Rod Dreher’s column last week criticizing Aaliyah’s traffic stopping funeral on Friday.

US Weekly reports Alicia Keys picks the cities she’ll perform in based on whether the city has a W hotel. Alicia’s spokesman says, “Alicia developed a relationship with the people at the W, who were supportive of her first mini-tour.”
Aaliyah given Cinderella-like funeral Friday
Aaliyah was laid to rest yesterday in a silver-plated coffin which was carried through the Upper East Side in a horse-drawn, glass-paneled hearse.
Sean “Puffy” Combs, Usher, Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim, and Gladys Knight were on hand along with boxer Mike Tyson and actor Chris Rock for an invitation only funeral along with 800 other mourners.
