Porn Charges Don’t Hinder R. Kelly Success

Despite being arrested on additional child pornography charges last month, ’s music career doesn’t seem to be suffering much damage. “He’s probably more popular now than during ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ (in 1996),” Kedar Massenburg, president of Motown Records, tells the Associated Press. Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell, one of Kelly’s most vocal critics, has an explanation why. “I think part of it is a total distrust that a lot of people in the African-American community have of the media and the criminal justice system,” she said.
