‘Racy’ Macy, Solomon Burke Rev Up Bumbershoot Crowd

Gene Stout of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reviewed the concert at Bumbershoot at Seattle Center on Saturday (August 30). Stout says, “Gray teased the crowd, encouraging ‘all the sexy people to take some clothes off’ and ‘feel the free dom of getting naked.’ Concertgoers — mostly male — responded by cheerfully stripping off their T-shirts and swinging them above their heads. Gray, who talked to local high school students earlier in the day during a sound-check mentoring session sponsored by the Grammy Foundation, closed her set with the pleading ‘She Ain’t Right for You’ and the tender hit single ‘I Try’.” Read more.
