Michael D. Clark of the Houston Chronicle reviewed Solange Knowles debut solo effort ‘Solo Star’. Clark writes, “Solange’s best moments come when she’s alone and close to the mike. Making the best of her emotionally drenched midrange on ‘Get Together’ and ‘So Be It,’ she extends beyond teen pop to adult contemporary slow jams.” He added, “Solange should be commended for making ‘Solo Star’ an honest first album. She’s not afraid to take risks. Not all the ideas work, but at 16, she’s way ahead of the curve.” Philly.com has since removed the review.
