Syleena Johnson On ‘Hypnotic’ Concept

Sounds Of Soul caught up with for a Q&A and asked the singer about her first single ‘Hypnotic’, and the concept behind that song. “R. Kelly wrote that song,” she said. “He was like ‘I have the perfect song for you.” It was written for someone else at first. Then he changed it and made it fit for what I do. Robert can give people songs that he’s already written, but with me, he can rarely do that because my style is so different. A lot of times, he has to write ‘to me.’ He has to create songs for me, because of the fact that I’m so different. ‘Hypnotic’ was just something he had already written and changed around to fit what I do.”
