Amerie checked in with her Twitter followers (@itsameriie), giving them a taste of what to expect on her upcoming album ‘Cymatika Vol. 1’, the follow-up to her 2009 album ‘In Love & War’. The 31-year-old Tweets:
For much of #Cymatika, I’ve been creating the songs first (lyrics/melodies/arrangements), & then building the instrumentals around them.
Amerie responded to a follower on her Twitter (@itsmeAmerie) asking about her ability to speak Korean, since her mother is Korean and she lived in Korea for three years a few months after she was born in 1980. The R&B singer writes:
Lol @KrystalOh I can read & write fluently but speak conversational only… working on it! It was my 1st language but my teachers encouraged my mom to stop speaking it so I could learn English. *sigh* But I’m determined to get it back. Never lost my accent so that’s good!
@KartelDLMG I meant I never lost my Korean accent when I’m speaking Korean cuz I spoke Korean before I spoke English (I’m half Korean)
