Ashanti attended the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 31). Nick Cannon of CBS spoke with the singer on the red carpet, discussing how she’s excited about 2010, doing a record with Dr. Dre and The Game, and her charity efforts. A new Ashanti release called ‘The Vault’, featuring music the R&B singer recorded for New Jersey-based AJM Records in the late 90’s, is set for release October 14th. Milk magazine spoke with AJM co-founder Mario Baez told Milk Magazine about the project, and how Ashanti feels about her old label releasing the material. “She knows it’s happening, so she’s probably nervous because she’s not part of the process,” Baez said, adding that Ashanti’s move to Murder Inc./Universal was a “friendly” process, since the larger label was “better able to handle distribution.”

B. Scott interviewed Ashanti backstage at the Heineken Red Star Soul Concert in Hollywood, which the singer headlined along with Goapele last Wednesday. Ashanti talked about what she was thinking before hitting the stage, loving to perform ‘Foolish’, the ‘Good Good’ video and having boyfriend Nelly in it – “me, Nelly, we’re good good”, tour plans, and the internet’s importance with music, how she reacts to the online haters – “you have to take constructive criticism at all times”, and they ended with their dance. Ashanti addressed rumors and Nelly in an interview with AllHipHop.com after Irv Gotti basically admitted to sleeping with Ashanti and being upset with her for distancing herself from him during the trial in an interview with Wendy Williams. The singer said sometimes Irv Gotti’s emotions sometimes gets the best of him and he doesn’t really think about what he says. She added, “Me and Nelly are cool.” The clip at YouTube has since been removed.
