Chaka Khan checked in with her MySpace friends (@officialchakakhan) on Monday (December 24) with the following bulletin:
To all of my wonderful friends here on MySpace, I wish you love, laughter, and peace during this holiday and all the seasons to ever come.
I am humbled by the outpouring of love that everyone has given me through beautiful messages and comments. I try to communicate with as many of you as time allows so please don’t take it personally if I don’t get back to you.
There’s a lot of pain out there that needs love’s healing touch. I challenge each and every one of you to be more proactive in showing love to one another and having compassion for each other’s situations, no matter how little in common you think there is between you and your fellow man/woman.
My Love and Gratitude Always,
Chaka

Chaka Khan Talks With CBS News
Singer Chaka Khan talked with Russ Mitchell about what her music has meant to her over the years, and how she participated in the Chicago chapter of the Black Panthers. “They mostly had me, because I was a young chick, I was in high school, so they didn’t bestow really heavy duty stuff on me,” Khan said about her involvement in her younger days as a member of the Black Panthers. “I could sell papers. I started a free breakfast for children program. I did that every morning before I went to school. I’d usually miss my first class. But we were feeding those kids breakfast every morning and just loving it.” Video of the interview at CBS.com has since been removed.
