Aretha Franklin In MusiCares Opening Act Power Play?

At the MusiCares event at the Convention Center in Los Angeles, Aretha Franklin was in full diva mode, according to a New York Post source. The Queen of Soul “refused to have Alicia Keys or Mary J. Blige perform,” fearing she’d be upstaged, according to a source. Instead, a “C-list lineup” of Corinne Bailey Rae, pianist Lang Lang, BeBe and CeCe Ledisi, and Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi provided the opening entertainment.

Corinne Bailey Rae: We Have To Save The Dolphins!

Corinne Bailey Rae

Corinne Bailey Rae checked in with her Myspace friends (@corinnebaileyrae) on Friday (November 2) with the following message regarding the annual Japanese dolphin massacre:

We have to save the dolphins!

Some of you may be aware that the dolphin hunting season has just began for another year in japan and is lasting til march! But some of you being made aware is just not enough. We have to make EVERYONE aware of this, all over the world. This cruel and devastating act has been going on for far too long.

The Japanese Government is allowing a few fishermen to slaughter thousands of dolphins and small whales in drive hunts for their meat.

The fishermen frighten migrating pods of dolphins, including baby dolphins, and other small whales with loud banging, then herd them, by the hundreds, into shallow coves, and slaughter them one by one :(

This is intensely distressing and upsetting and is beyond inhumane!
It simply HAS to end, and we have to help make it end!

There is a petition each one of you can sign which will be put forward to the Japanese Government demanding they stop this incredibly cruel thing happening.

The petition needs to reach it’s goal of 250,000 signatures.

Corinne currently has 101,356 friends so if each and every one of you signs this petition (and my maths does not fail me) we are almost there!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! click this link and sign the petition and help stop this devastation from carrying on for another year. Each year we lose 20,000 beautiful creatures to these cruel fishermen! NO MORE!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, hopefully it has not fallen on ignorance and you will help!

Thank you :)

Aretha Franklin Changes Her Mind On Corinne Bailey Rae

Aretha Franklin tells Radio 1Xtra’s TXU show that she almost selected Corinne Bailey Rae to star in the movie of her life story, but changed her mind after seeing her on TV. “Yeah, I just saw Corinne. I thought she was very nice – she’s a very nice singer,” Franklin explained. “I almost cast her as one of the characters in my play and in the movie, but when I saw her on TV… well, her pictures look one way and when I saw her on TV she looked a little different so I don’t think so.”
