Emily King reacted to the death of Michael Jackson on her blog at MySpace (@emilykingmusic) on Thursday (June 25), recalling the time she met the King of Pop. The New York R&B singer writes:
We waited for 3 nights, huddled on top of a piece of cardboard in the center of times square, in the cold. McDonald’s was our home away from home, warm apple pie and an extremely questionable bathroom. We made friends, watched people, and occasionally fell asleep. I remember telling my teacher that I would be absent for a few days… I was going to meet Michael Jackson…
New York City native Emily King is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter whose sound is generating a lot of buzz. Her debut album is entitled ‘East Side Story’. King visited ‘The Saturday Early Show’ to perform ‘Walk In My Shoes’ on the show’s Second Cup Café after briefly chatting with the morning show’s host. “It was always around, so it was kind of an easy segue into music,” King said about her musical parents. Video at CBS.com has since been removed.
