Eric Benet is out with the music video to his new single ‘Real Love’, off the Milwaukee, Wisconsin R&B singer’s upcoming album ‘The One’, out later this year on his recently formed record label, Jordan House Records, which he made in partnership with EMI. Watch it via YouTube below.
Eric Benet spoke with Essence about his new single ‘Real Love’, married life, having a baby on the way and the inspiration for his new album, due out next year. “A lot of my music reflects wherever I am in my life. I’m in a really great place right now,” the 40-year-old said. “My last album was a bit of an homage to ’70s soul, but with this record I’m going to take a very contemporary approach to old-school songwriting integrity. I still want to record most of my stuff live with dope musicians, as opposed to just loops and a drum machine.”
Eric Benet checked in with fans on his blog at MySpace (@ebenet) on Wednesday (September 24). The Los Angeles based R&B singer writes:
Just arrived in Jacksonville. Very overcast day here but my band and I are bringing some sunshine fa sho! Sittin in my room watchin CNN.. John McCain is making laugh… hard! His ranking in the national polls have slipped on the banana peel that was his response to last weeks financial crisis. So, at the first presidential debate he decides to pull a M.I.A.. I think “my dog ate my homework” would have gone over a little better in the press. Isn’t this the time when the American people need to see what kind of minds these two potential world leaders are working with?? Speaking for myself, I’d like to see some unscripted, off the dome, “this is how I see it” intellect. Wouldn’t you? Well I’ll be eating my popcorn, wearing my Obama shirt as I watch Barack make much better use of McCain’s TV air time this Friday.
Eric Benet visited the ‘Today’ show on Tuesday (September 9), where he was joined by his daughter India. Eric talking about being grateful for his new album ‘Love & Life’ has been climbing the charts, being given free reign by his record label for the first time, the importance of recording the album back to his roots in Milwaukee, his inspirations growing up, and raising India on his own.
