Blige, Lionel Richie, T-Pain, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Akon, India.Arie, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Natalie Cole, Faith Evans, Melanie Fiona, Jamie Foxx, Tyrese Gibson, Anthony Hamilton, Keri Hilson, Gladys Knight, Mya, Raphael Saadiq, Trey Songz, Musiq Soulchild and Robin Thicke were among the stars who participated in a recording of the remake of the 1985 charity single ‘We Are The World’, written by Lionel Richie and the late Michael Jackson. The artists joined up on February 1st in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios). Usher was the victim of a serious Christmastime jewel heist – when someone stole $1,065,700 in jewelry from the back of his car while he was at an AT&T store in Atlanta. A report from TMZ at MySpace has since been removed.

Usher reacted to the death of Michael Jackson with the following statement:
This loss has deeply saddened me, with a heavy heart I composed this statement. May God cover you Michael. We all lift your name up in prayer. I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. Usher and Justin Bieber were in the studio with The Bert Show on Monday (June 22) at Q100 studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Usher talked about what he’d do if his kids take an interest in singing, being protective when it comes to press but glad Atlanta doesn’t have a paparazzi problem, being confident he’ll be able to co-parent after divorcing Tameka, and if he’s open to getting married again. They then focused on Justin since he was feeling ignored, and talked about how he caught on with YouTube and eventually met up with Usher. Watch below.
The Associated Press reports Usher filed for divorce Friday from his wife of nearly two years, Tameka Foster-Raymond. The petition was filed at Superior Court in Atlanta and did not give a reason for the split.
“They’ve been separated for some time and Usher just wants what’s best for his children,” a source told News of the World. Sources also told MTV News the pair haven’t lived together in some time, with Usher currently in Nevada working on a new album.
The couple have two sons together, Usher Raymond V, born in November of 2007, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, born last December. Foster has three sons from a previous relationship.
Pharrell discusses his work on the new Usher album. “The Usher album is crazy,” Pharrell said. “His album is the review of the mind of a monster. He’s somewhere else right now. It’s like a whole different kind of R&B, it’s great. It’s really great. It’s super edgy. He’s taking a lot of time to really sit and study and really built something that is mean.”
